For a few years now we've been hearing about a potential CGI Smurfs movie that was on the go. Recently, the film went into pre-prodcution with Raja Gosnell (Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Scooby-Doo) as the director. A spy recently snapped a shot of what's in store for the Smurfs movie.

Smurfs

You'll have to head over to UGO to get the full image of this Smurf. UGO also mentions the Smurf village is going to be in Central Park in New York City. I'm not sure how crazy I am about that. Where are they going to stick Gargamel's castle? Speaking of Gargamel, who do you think should play him (assuming he's in the movie)?

I'm going to say Mark Strong would be fun in this role, but considering the roles he's taken I doubt he'd even look at this one.

I recently introduced the Smurfs to my kids thanks to WHV. It's hard to believe that the little blue guys (and gal) that are only 3 apples high can still entertain today kids. Then again, the majority of today's cartoons are less then impressive, and I love cartoons.
