What We Do in the Shadows Season 6 Episodes 1-3

It’s fitting yet deeply sad that the final season of the ever hilarious What We Do in the Shadows is ending 10 years after the movie came out. Redefining what we thought of the vampire genre, and how there are scarewolves not werewolves and giving the world much more Matt Berry than needed, this show has been something special and creative since episode one. With the last season giving audiences almost everything they’ve ever wanted being gifted a sixth season to wrap things up is a blessing, so sit back and drink your cooled blood and enjoy the first three episodes of season six of What We Do in the Shadows.

While the first three episodes really come together perfectly we will break down the general plot. We have our beloved Guillermo (Harvey Guillen) whose left the residence after last season of betraying Nandor (Kayvan Novak) and becoming a vampire. While that was reversed because it turns out he was not a great vampire, he is still trying to live with his beloved friends and family. While Nandor made it clear he did not want Gizmo there anymore, Guillermo moved into Laszlo (Matt Berry) outdoor solarium that used to be his relief room, to put it lightly. Guillermo is trying to find a new job, get back into society and leave Panera but things are more difficult than he assumes. While dealing with this, Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch) along with Laszlo and Nandor now have to handle an unexpected visitor. Their original task to reanimate corpses, and take over the world clearly never came to fruition and their lives are essentially at stake as they have to ensure that they can either complete their task before its too late, or convince their visitor they are worthy of not being replaced.

While this has always been a part of the show in its DNA, it always seemed to play second fiddle to the side story, or the season arc. Bringing this back to the forefront, not leaving this unanswered is the right call for the season. Especially after giving the audience the season they wanted with Guillermo finally becoming a vampire, this is the best way to give our beloved vampires their swan song. While it is going to be bitter sweet to see them leave, knowing we got six wonderful seasons from a movie that redefined the comedy of vampires is a blessing no one could’ve asked for to be done better.

It’s the sixth season, there is no question about the performances given in this show. Everyone is fantastic, Matt Berry, Harvey Guillen, Natasia Demetriou, Mark Proksch and Kayvan Novak have forever cemented themselves into comedic gold and royalty with six of the best seasons of comedy on television that get to hang in some prestigious company. This show continues to be something special, and something incredible while being poignant and true to its creativity, breathing life into an overdone genre of the blood sucking variety. Prepare to say goodbye, but know whenever you’re in a tight situation you can jump into the air and scream BAT and escape. Thank you What We Do in the Shadows for providing six incredible seasons of hilarity, while reinvigorating the love of the vampire lore.

About The Author

My earliest movie memory, outside of my home theatre in my basement, was going to the local Video 99 and wanting to rent ET only to be told by the shop owner it was playing down the street in theatres. My love for cinema has been alive for as long as I can honestly remember. I would frequent the cinema minutes down from my house daily. It was a second home. Movies are an escape from the everyday world, a window into the soul, a distant friend. If I’m not watching a movie, I’m probably watching a tv show, if I’m doing neither I’m asleep.
