Batman is one of the most recognized comic book characters in existence and was raised to new heights thanks to the incredible success of the Dark Knight. With the success of other Lego video games (Star Wars and Indiana Jones) it’s no surprise that Batman has made his way into the bricked universe.
While at X08 earlier this year I met a few of the folks from Warner Interactive in August. It was then that I’d placed my request for the Xbox 360 version (I was at an Xbox event after all) of the game. A few weeks later an email arrived advising that they were out of 360 versions and I could request either the PS3 version or the Wii.
As I had yet to play anything other than Wii Sports I opted for the Wii version of the game. Getting used to the controls took a little time, but after about 20-minutes the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder were kicking block.
The cut scenes thus far have me cracking up as Traveller’s Tales (Developer) seems to have no issue in making jokes at the expense of the characters. This is my first full venture into the Lego video world having only played a few moments of Lego Star Wars while at an event.
Trying to figure out how to get to certain areas can be tricky and irritating, but after you understand how the game works it become easier. I’m guessing that I’ll have to go back to certain areas to and replay them in free play mode to access some of the areas that I couldn’t get to with my default suit, or demo suit.
A full review will come when I’ve put enough time into the game, but so far my experience is enjoyable, and as Lego Batman would say “nnnng – aaaah – rrrrrrrrrr”.
