Well, it appears that the fears of Spider-man fans across the planet have been officially substantiated today with the news that Logan Lerman is in the hot seat to take over the role of Peter Parker in Sony Picture Entertainment‘s top superhero franchise. Not only does it crush hopes for a 4th “Raimi romp,” it also solidifies that the franchise is about to see a substantial reboot.
The new franchise will be helmed by director Marc Webb (500 Days Of Summer) and is rumoured to begin production sometime this year in hopes for a July 3rd, 2012 theatrical release date.
For those who are unfamiliar with the name, Logan Lerman is best known for his portrayal of the title character in February’s Harry Potter wannabe film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Other notable credits include Gamer, The Patriot and 3:10 To Yuma. Pretty impressive for an actor who is only the tender age of 18.
Despite the fact that the role will literally “suit” him, will the character fit him? Let us know what you think below in our comments section.
