Zack Snyder’s Justice League – 4K UHD Review

Movie Review

When Zack Snyder’s Justice League first came out earlier this year I wrote this very wordy review. I could go crazy and write a bunch of stuff again, but I’m going to hold back on writing a short novel.

Not during any of my multiple viewings did this movie feel like 4hrs. Yes, I have invested the time into multiple viewings. There was so much to digest. With the 4K release, I can now pick which part I want to watch and take my time to enjoy the unique masterpiece.

I’m a huge fan of Zack Snyder’s visual style. He frames everything as though he was going to hang it on the wall. Having a chance to finish the movie his way allowed for a much richer character development. Each hero is so much better. I just wish this wasn’t the end of the Snyder-verse. I would absolutely love to see his full vision fulfilled.

Video

Wowzers. With this movie being full of grey tones and being fairly dark, this transfer is stunning. Details are sharp, and even the smallest details are visible. There is a negative side to having such a crisp and detailed transfer; some of the FX shots look like FX, but those instances are far and few in-between.

Yes, the 4:3. Don’t zoom in. Will it bother you? Depends. I forgot about it until I thought about it.

Audio

Hello new show-off 4K. The sound design on this film is incredible. The atmospheric audio really adds to the overall experience. The tone is set right from the start when Superman lets out his scream and it travels through all the speakers.

The action sequences really show off how well this was mixed for home. Just put on the battle in Themyscira when the boom tubes and parademons surround you. The Atmos mix really helps you escape and just enjoy the movie.

Extras

Not a lot here, which really is too bad. I think WB could have included a lot more, but the one feature that was included just started to scratch the surface of what lead to this release.

At just shy of 25-minutes Road to Justice League, which should have been called Road to Justice, is a great watch.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

There is no doubt Zack Snyder’s Justice League is significantly better than what came out in 2017 and this 4K Ultra High Definition Blu-ray is outstanding. Could there have been more extras? Yes. The audio and video are amongst the best I’ve seen so far despite not having a Dolby Vision HDR encoding.

For me, this is an obvious buy.
