Hokum is an upcoming supernatural horror film written and directed by Damian McCarthy, starring Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh, Will O’Connell, Michael Patric, Brendan Conroy, and Austin Amelio.
The story follows a troubled horror novelist who travels to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, hoping for a quiet moment of closure. Instead, he finds himself drawn into a dark local legend surrounding the inn, rumoured to be haunted by a vengeful witch. As unsettling events begin to unfold, the writer’s search for peace slowly turns into a terrifying confrontation with forces that may be far more real than the stories he writes.
