The first entry in the stand alone Star Wars film series is, in my opinion, a huge success. As film that was spawned from a single line of dialog in A New Hope I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when the room went dark and projector started rolling. Rogue One thankfully delivers in all the right ways.
Let me just say that none of the entries in the star wars universe are perfect. There is plenty of weak dialog, plot holes, ect. However, none of that matters. There is something about these films that is able to take me out of my mind for a few hours and just sit back and escape my own thoughts.
I really enjoyed the casting in this film. There were two big stand outs for me Donnie Yen and Alan Tudyk. Even though the latter of which we never physically see in the film as Tudyk voices the best robot character since R2-D2. I was delighted with the casting of Felicity Jones and Diego Luna. I enjoyed their time on screen together.
I’ve enjoyed everything Gareth Edwards has directed thus far and Rogue One is no exception. Not only does he know how to stage and cut action scenes the scenery in the film was incredible. The final battle sequence alone would have been worth the price admission alone.
Rogue One is now one of my favourite Star Wars films of all time. I cannot wait to see this movie again and again. Pew pew pew.
