Warner Bros has hired Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct the live action version of DC property based on the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, Barbara, aka Batgirl. The duo who directed Bad Boys for Life will work off a script penned by Christina Hodson (The Flash, Birds of Prey and Bumblebee).
The Kristin Burr produced film is being planned as a HBO MAX release.
“With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham,” said Burr. “Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”

The last attempt saw Joss Whedon attempt to write and direct Batgirl, but “left” the project before it could get off the ground. The last live action movie version of the character was Alicia Silverstone in the panned Batman & Robin.
