Writer and director Greg Mottola (Superbad, Paul, Keeping up with the Joneses) has announced we’re finally getting the long talked about, often tried, relaunch of Fletch, which was made famous by Chevy Chase.
Mottola shared the first page of the draft with the the movie’s title on it – Confess, Fletch. As this is based on the books by author Gregory Mcdonald will it be a closer adaptation then the 1985 comedy film. The original film was changed to a comedy from a its more noir-ish roots for Chase’s style of comedy. With Jon Hamm playing the Fletch this time around we know he can handle both serious and comedic roles.
This isn’t the first time Jon Hamm has worked with Greg Mottola. They previously worked together on Keeping Up with the Jones.
Here is the synopsis for Confess, Fletch:
In a mysterious chain of wild events, Fletch finds himself in the middle of multiple murders – one of which pins him as a prime suspect. While on a quest to prove his innocence, Fletch is tasked with finding his fiancée’s stolen art collection, the only inheritance she’s acquired after her father goes missing and is presumed dead.
