Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins is helming Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. Her involvement was announced by Kathleen Kennedy (Lucasfilm President) during Disney’s investor’s day, but who would be writing the script was not know until now.
Matthew Robinson, who most recently wrote Love and Monsters and also has credits for The Invention of Lying, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Monster Trucks and is said to be working on a treatment for an Edge of Tomorrow sequel, has been hired to write at least a draft for the film.
There is a books series called X-Wing: Rogue Squadron in which Wedge Antilles recruits a bunch of X-Wing fighters to take on dangerous missions and introduce us to a new potential Jedi. Although, no one has said anything about the script, I’m really hoping they draw from these books.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron currently has a release date of December 22, 2023 with is planning a late 2022 production start date.
