Screenwriter, author and video game designer Gary Whitta has been wanting to make a sequel to the 80s sci-fi The Last Starfighter. For the past few years he’s been tinkering with a script. Tentatively dubbed The Last Starfighters.
Why should you care you might be wondering?
Gary has written or co-written the following: The Book of Eli and Rogue One (yes the first Star Wars standalone film). Whitta has also written for Prey, Gears of War, The Walking Dead video game series and is a story consultant on Halo 5.
That’s why you should care. To showcase his vision he teamed with the original creator, Jon Bethuel, as well as concept artist Matt Allsopp (Rogue One) and had new version of Craig Safan’s theme done by Chris Tilton to release the following sizzle concept reel.
