The DVD Premiere Awards, presented by DVD Premieres Magazine, were held last night in L.A. and hosted by ComedyCentral TV personality Ben Stein.These awards celebrate movies that have debuted on DVD or the Internet during 2002, and are decided by members of the DVD Premieres Academy, which is made up of individuals who work in the DVD Industry.Recipients included Quentin Tarantino and Peter Jackson, who accepted via sattelite from New Zealand. The LORD OF THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RINGS – EXTENDED COLLECTORS EDITION won several technical awards, added content awards and was also named the Best Special Edition of the Year (new release) for the “AOL Movies DVD Premiere Award” which was decided in an open online poll of AOL subscribers.
