Project Hail Mary is an upcoming science fiction film directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard, based on Andy Weir’s bestselling 2021 novel. The film stars Ryan Gosling (who also serves as a producer), alongside Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub.
The story follows Ryland Grace(Gosling), an astronaut who awakens alone aboard an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of who he is or why he’s there. As his memories slowly return, Grace realizes he may be the sole survivor of a mission sent to the Tau Ceti system, tasked with finding a solution to a catastrophic threat facing Earth. With time running out, he must depend on his relentless ingenuity and sheer determination to save humanity, though he may discover he isn’t as alone as he first believed.
Project Hail Mary is scheduled for release by Amazon MGM Studios on March 20, 2026.
