Synapse Films is bringing one of the wildest and most gloriously twisted movies of the 1990s to 4K Ultra HD. Frank Henenlotter’s Frankenhooker will make its 4K UHD debut on October 13, with the cult favourite also returning to Blu-ray in a brand-new restoration.

Frankenhooker: A Twisted Take on Frankenstein
The story follows Jeffrey Franken (James Lorinz), a grieving medical student who refuses to accept the death of his fiancée, Elizabeth (Patty Mullen).
Determined to bring her back, Jeffrey turns to some highly unconventional medical methods. His plan involves finding replacement body parts and rebuilding Elizabeth — but, naturally, things don’t exactly go according to plan.
What follows is a bloody, bizarre and frequently hilarious nightmare that takes the classic Frankenstein premise into decidedly outrageous territory.

The 4K Ultra HD edition of Frankenhooker features an all-new 2025 Dolby Vision 4K restoration, created from the archival uncut original 35mm vault materials.
The Blu-ray edition also receives the new restoration treatment and marks the film’s return to Blu-ray, presenting the complete 85-minute uncut feature.

Frank Henenlotter’s Twisted Vision

The cast includes Louise Lasser, Shirley Stoler and legendary television horror host John Zacherle, better known to horror fans as Zacherley.
