LAIKA — the acclaimed studio behind Coraline and ParaNorman — has released the first teaser trailer for Wildwood, its upcoming stop‑motion fantasy epic directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Masters of the Universe) and written by Chris Butler. This beautifully handcrafted adventure will arrive in theatres nationwide on October 23.
Based on the bestselling novel by Colin Meloy and brought to life through the illustrations of Carson Ellis, Wildwood continues LAIKA’s tradition of rich storytelling and meticulous artistry. The film is produced by Knight and Sam Wilson, with Fathom Entertainment overseeing the wide U.S. theatrical rollout from its home base in Denver, Colorado. FilmNation Entertainment will handle international representation for LAIKA’s newest cinematic world.

Wildwood follows Prue McKeel, a determined teenager whose baby brother is carried away by a mysterious murder of crows. Her search leads her into the Impassable Wilderness — a hidden, enchanted forest on the edge of Portland, Oregon. With her loyal but accident‑prone classmate Curtis Mehlberg by her side, Prue encounters talking animals, wandering bandits, and powerful forces shaped by grief, ambition, and ancient magic. As tensions rise and the balance of the forest begins to fracture, Prue must uncover her own courage and inner strength. To save her brother — and protect Wildwood’s fragile future — she’ll have to risk everything.
