Luc Besson’s LE DERNIER COMBAT and THE MESSENGER Arrive on 4K Ultra HD December 8

Fans of Luc Besson will have two very different films from the acclaimed filmmaker arriving on 4K Ultra HD December 8.

Sony Pictures is releasing LE DERNIER COMBAT and THE MESSENGER: THE STORY OF JOAN OF ARC separately, with both editions featuring newly added special features.

LE DERNIER COMBAT

Besson’s LE DERNIER COMBAT presents a stark vision of a civilization reduced to ruins.

Set in a bleak post-apocalyptic world, the film follows a man trying to survive among violent inhabitants while facing the loneliness of a society that has collapsed. Shot in black and white and using very little dialogue, Besson relies heavily on atmosphere and visual storytelling.

THE MESSENGER: THE STORY OF JOAN OF ARC turns to the life of Joan of Arc, beginning in France in 1429 during a period of war, political instability, and religious conflict.

Milla Jovovich stars as Joan, a young woman who believes she has been given a divine mission to help restore France’s fortunes. After approaching her king and receiving an army, she becomes a major figure in the conflict before her story ends in tragedy.

The film also explores Joan’s faith and the uncertainty surrounding the visions that shaped her extraordinary life.
