Exit 8 (Japanese: 8番出口, Hepburn: Hachiban Deguchi) is a 2025 Japanese mystery psychological horror film directed by Genki Kawamura, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Kentaro Hirase. The film is based on the viral 2023 video game The Exit 8, developed by Kotake Create.
The story follows a man who becomes trapped inside an underground passageway with no clear way out. Guided only by posted instructions, he attempts to navigate the corridor, but with every step forward, unsettling abnormalities begin to appear. What starts as a simple path quickly turns into a disturbing loop of eerie encounters and unexplained events.
As reality begins to blur, the man is left questioning whether he’s trapped in a real space or something far more sinister. With paranoia building and the environment growing increasingly unpredictable, his only goal becomes clear: find Exit 8… before the passage consumes him entirely.
