Scooby-Doo is getting a fresh new beginning.
Netflix has officially unveiled a first look at “Scooby-Doo: Origins,” a live-action reimagining of the beloved mystery franchise that will introduce a new generation of fans to Mystery Inc. The upcoming series is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia, and is set to premiere globally on Netflix in 2027.
In a major first for the franchise, Scooby-Doo himself will be portrayed by a real dog, marking the first live-action adaptation in the character’s more than 50-year history to take this approach.

The Mystery Begins Before Mystery Inc.
Rather than retelling familiar stories, Scooby-Doo: Origins takes audiences back to the beginning.
Set during the friends’ final summer at camp, the series follows lifelong pals Shaggy Rogers and Daphne Blake as they become entangled in a chilling mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.
As strange events begin to unfold, they join forces with the brilliant and scientifically minded Velma Dinkley and the charming newcomer Fred “Freddy” Jones. Together, they investigate a case that slowly pulls each of them into a dark and unsettling nightmare while threatening to reveal long-buried secrets.

The series is created by acclaimed writers and producers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers through their Midnight Radio banner.
