Overview
Set in a brutal futuristic war, Rogue is a genetically engineered super soldier known as a Genetic Infantryman. Designed to survive environments that would be impossible for ordinary humans, Rogue possesses enhanced abilities and an engineered body capable of withstanding extreme conditions.
But Rogue’s greatest advantage may be the technology carried by his fallen comrades.
After being betrayed by his own forces, Rogue sets out to track down the mysterious Traitor General, the figure responsible for turning against the Genetic Infantrymen. Along the way, he is accompanied by the personalities of three fallen comrades, whose consciousnesses have been preserved on biochips.
Gunnar is mounted on Rogue’s rifle, Bagman is attached to his backpack, while Helm is carried on his helmet. Their presence gives Rogue a unique group of companions as he attempts to survive a deadly military conflict and uncover the truth behind the betrayal.
Who Is Rogue Trooper?
Rogue Trooper originated in the pages of the legendary British comic anthology 2000 AD. Unlike a conventional soldier, Rogue is essentially a manufactured human weapon, created specifically for warfare.
His genetically engineered body makes him extraordinarily difficult to kill. Rogue is immune to almost all known toxins, can survive exposure to powerful acid and is capable of enduring the vacuum of space without protection.
However, the character is more than simply an unstoppable super soldier. His story is deeply connected to war, betrayal, friendship and revenge, with his relationship with the personalities of his deceased comrades providing an important emotional element.

Director and Writer

Jones has previously explored science-fiction themes in films including Moon, Source Code and Warcraft, making Rogue Trooper a natural fit for his interest in futuristic worlds, technology and questions surrounding identity.
With Rogue Trooper, Jones brings the long-running 2000 AD character into an ambitious animated feature that blends comic-book storytelling with a gritty military science-fiction aesthetic.
Animation, Action and Science Fiction
One of the most interesting aspects of Rogue Trooper is its combination of animation and military science fiction.
Rather than presenting Rogue as a traditional superhero, the story places him in a harsh battlefield environment where survival depends on his genetically engineered abilities, advanced weaponry and the knowledge contained within the biochips of his fallen comrades.
That setup allows the film to explore some fascinating ideas about what makes someone human, whether a person’s personality can survive death, and the cost of creating soldiers specifically for war.
At the same time, the film promises plenty of futuristic action and adventure for audiences looking for something more unconventional than a traditional superhero movie.
Release Date
Rogue Trooper is scheduled to arrive in Canadian theatres on September 19, 2026.
The film is listed as a science-fiction, action, animation and adventure movie, with a reported runtime of approximately 2 hours and 3 minutes.
