Apparently, director Zach Snyder introduced the WATCHMEN footage by explaining that it would expand on the teaser footage we’ve already seen as well as show how ‘un-PG’ it really will be…
Here is a breathless description of the footage from our man on the scene:
Rorshachs mask with ink spots shifting and moving. The Dr. Manhattan footage from the trailer, but uncensored with little Viet-Cong exploding all over. The blood-spattered Smileyface button. Rorschach in The Comedians apartment. Drieberg looking dumpy and sad. Carla Gugino and The Comedian in one of the Minuteman flashbacks. The Owl Ship unveiled! Images of clocks and watches. An extended shot of Manhattan torn apart in the particle chamber. More of Manhattan raising his glass watch-temple out of the Martian sand. More of Manhattan blowing people up. Rorshack throwing Max Headroom (Matt Frewer playing Moloch the Magician) into a fridge. The Owl ship flying through the snow. Nite Owl II fighting. The Comedian gets his face carved up by his Vietnamese babymama and Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre II kissing as a mushroom cloud goes up in the background!
All of this with no dialogue, no sound FX, just a weird chanting score??!!??
Sounds like Zach’s got some pretty sneaky tricks up his sleeves for next March! The panel featured Jackie Ealre Haley (Rorschach), Malin Ackerman (Spectre II), Billy Crudup (Manhattan), Matthew Goode (Ozymandias), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Comedian), Patrick Wilson (Night Owl II) and Carla Gugino (original Silk Spectre) along with director Zach Snyder and co-creator of the graphic novel, Dave Gibbons!!
