With the Emma Stone-starrer Cruella moving into its second weekend in Theatres and Disney+ The Hollywood Reporter has learned there is a sequel in early development.
Director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara who brought the One Hundred and One Dalmatians villainess, Cruella de Vil, to life are expected to return for the sequel. There is no word yet if any of the cast will return, but here’s hoping we get some more Emma Stone, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser and Wink, the bit-sized chihuahua.
“We are very pleased with Cruella’s box office success, in conjunction with its strong Disney+ Premier Access performance to date,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “The film has been incredibly well received by audiences around the world, with a 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to A’s in every demographic from CinemaScore on opening weekend, ranking it among the most popular of our live-action reimaginings. We look forward to a long run as audiences continue to enjoy this fantastic film.”

The film has earned nearly $49-million at the pandemic stricken global box-office.
After watching the film my youngest daughter immediately asked if there will be more. I am happy to learn the answer is a resounding yes.
