Get ready to head to the stars. Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced that Project Hail Mary—the highly anticipated sci-fi epic based on the bestselling novel by Andy Weir (The Martian) is making its streaming debut on Prime Video this week on July 3.

Helmed by the powerhouse directing duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film follows science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), who wakes up on a spaceship light-years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory slowly returns, he uncovers the massive scale of his mission: he must solve the riddle of a mysterious substance causing our sun to die out. Calling on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction, Grace soon discovers that an unexpected friendship means he might not have to face the universe alone.
While a streaming premiere is a massive win for a long weekend watch, a sprawling, visually driven space epic like this demands the highest possible bitrate. Fortunately, collectors won’t have to wait long to give it proper home theatre treatment: the official 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release is locked in for August 11, 2026. Between the intricate sci-fi visuals and what promises to be a stellar dynamic audio mix, this is bound to be a reference-quality disc.
