Los Angeles’ biggest film festival returns September 23 through October 6 with 81 feature films, major premieres, restorations, anniversary screenings and special appearances from some of cinema’s biggest names.

Film lovers are about to have a very busy couple of weeks in Los Angeles.

Beyond Fest 2026 has officially announced its complete festival lineup, bringing an enormous 81-feature slate to Los Angeles from September 23 through October 6, 2026. The festival will feature 10 World Premieres, 4 North American Premieres, 7 U.S. Premieres and 28 West Coast Premieres, making this year’s event one of the most ambitious editions yet.

Presented by MUBI and programmed and produced in partnership with the American Cinematheque, Beyond Fest will take over the Egyptian Theatre, MUBI Theatre at the Aero, Directors Village and MUBI Theatre at the Los Feliz 3.

The 2026 festival brings together new genre cinema, major filmmakers, cult classics, restorations, anniversary celebrations and special theatrical events — continuing Beyond Fest’s tradition of bringing very different corners of cinema together under one roof.

The complete announcement describes the festival as a celebration of everything from major new releases and radical genre filmmaking to rediscovered classics and once-in-a-lifetime theatrical experiences.

RZA Brings Kung-Fu to Beyond Fest

RZA will have a particularly prominent presence at this year’s festival.

The filmmaker and musician will present the World Premiere episode of SATURDAY AFTERNOON KUNG-FU THEATER — BORN INVINCIBLE, alongside a 4K restoration of MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE.

The pairing should make for a particularly exciting event for martial-arts cinema fans, combining new material from RZA’s cinematic universe with one of the genre’s most celebrated classics.

A Festival Built for Film Fans

Beyond Fest Head of Programming Evrim Ersoy described the festival as an event designed to break down the traditional boundaries separating arthouse cinema from genre and cult filmmaking.

That philosophy is evident throughout the 2026 program. A single festival can move from a restored David Lynch classic to a new horror film, from a major filmmaker retrospective to an animated science-fiction premiere, and from 70mm presentations to world premieres.

American Cinematheque Director of Programming Chris LeMaire similarly emphasized the combination of premieres, new filmmakers, large-format cinema and special tributes that defines Beyond Fest.
