Award-winning filmmaker Matt Johnson (BlackBerry) directs TONY, a coming-of-age drama inspired by the early life of legendary chef, author, and television personality Anthony Bourdain. The film follows a pivotal summer that helped shape the man who would later become one of the world’s most influential culinary voices.
TONY arrives in select theatres on August 7, followed by a nationwide release on August 21.
TONY Story
Set in the summer of Anthony Bourdain’s youth, the film follows 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain (Dominic Sessa) as he travels to the coastal town of Provincetown, Massachusetts. What begins as a simple summer getaway quickly changes course when he finds himself immersed in the demanding, unpredictable world of a busy restaurant kitchen.
Surrounded by colorful personalities, intense pressure, and unforgettable experiences, Anthony discovers a passion that will forever alter the direction of his life and eventually lead him to become one of the most celebrated chefs and storytellers of his generation.
