Straight out of Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles, Crunchyroll and Aniplex have dropped a massive bombshell: a brand-new theatrical anime feature film, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, is officially in production!
The global powerhouse series is taking its breathtaking action to the biggest screen possible. Here is everything we know so far about this highly anticipated cinematic release.
This isn’t a recap or a spin-off. Solo Leveling: Beyond the System is confirmed to be a direct continuation of the anime series. The story will pick up immediately following the high-stakes events of Season 2 (Arise from the Shadows).
While the exact plot details and release date window are being kept locked away in an S-Rank dungeon for now, Crunchyroll and Aniplex treated lucky Anime Expo attendees to a special promotional concept video. The powerhouse studio A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online) is back at the helm to handle the animation, ensuring that the film’s fight sequences will have the same jaw-dropping, fluid quality that made the TV series a global phenomenon.

For those new to the phenomenon, Solo Leveling started as a mega-popular Korean web novel and webtoon created by Chugong and illustrated by the late DUBU (REDICE STUDIO). The franchise has brought in over 650 million page views on Japan’s Piccoma platform alone. It follows Sung Jin-woo, the “weakest weapon of mankind,” who gains a unique ability to level up after surviving a double dungeon, eventually transforming into an unstoppable force.
