Inspired by the acclaimed 1991 film directed by Scorsese, Cape Fear follows happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson), whose lives are turned upside down when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), a dangerous criminal they helped put behind bars, is released from prison. Driven by vengeance, Cady sets his sights on destroying everything they hold dear.
Produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television, the series draws from both the novel The Executioners and its previous screen adaptations, including the 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and the 1991 remake.
Nick Antosca serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer alongside Alex Hedlund. Additional executive producers include Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television, with Spielberg and Scorsese also serving as producers. Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum directs the pilot and serves as executive producer.
Cape Fear promises a modern reimagining of a classic story, where justice has consequences, and vengeance never forgets.
