The story continues from the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles must battle their most fearsome enemy, Shadow the Hedgehog. A black and red furry fury with a troubled and traumatic past, along with the return of Dr. Robotnik’s last living relative, his grandfather Gerald who has an insatiable thirst for world domination.
As a long-time fan of Sonic and Shadow, I was more than pleased with the adaptation of their classic rivalry on the big screen. I loved every reference used in the film, both obscure and well-known. The entire film almost acts as a love letter to Sonic Adventure 2. Any long-time fan or casual enjoyer is going to LOVE every visual, performance, sound effect, and reference that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has to offer.
