MARVEL Animation’s “X-MEN ’97” Returns To DISNEY+ For A Second Season On July 1

Disney+ has officially revealed the first trailer and poster for Season 2 of X-Men ’97, with the Emmy®-nominated Marvel animated hit set to return on July 1, 2026. Following the massive success of its debut season, the acclaimed revival remains one of the most-watched Disney+ Original animated series worldwide and currently holds an impressive 99% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Season 2 of X-Men ’97 finds the legendary mutant team fractured and scattered across multiple timelines as they fight to reunite and return home. Back in the 1990s, growing anti-mutant tensions and dangerous new enemies threaten a world already shaken by the X-Men’s disappearance. The new season will feature nine episodes packed with action, emotional stakes, and classic Marvel storytelling.

Produced by Marvel Studios, the animated series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston, and Beau DeMayo. Jake Castorena serves as supervising producer, with episodes written by JB Ballard, Beau DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson. Episodic direction is handled by Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley.
